YOUNG Warminster musicians delivered a rousing performance at the second annual Lions Club concert.
An audience of more than 100 people, including the mayor and president of the chamber of commerce, were entertained by nine youngsters at the Athenaeum on Friday. The event, organised by Warminster Lions Club, gave young musicians the chance to perform in front of an audience.
The programme included pieces for the piano, clarinet, harp, French horn and flute and voice. Composers ranged from Bach to Andrew Lloyd Webber. Paul Barnes performed a composition of his own, and the harpists Cecilia Sultana de Maria and Philippa Thorpe ended with Greensleeves. Each performer was presented with a book token.
Lion president Bob Boothroyd thanked Andrew Small and Laura Brett, who drew up the programme and supported the performers, and master of ceremonies, Beverley Doel. He said: "We are on the look-out for young musicians who would like to be considered for future concerts. Details should be forwarded to the club's secretary on (01985) 219110."
