RESIDENTS living in a Warminster street are being asked to attend an open day designed to gauge opinions on future changes to their neighbourhood.

People living in Westleigh have been invited to a Home Zone open day on Sunday, September 22, to choose from an extensive list of projects designed to make their streets more community friendly.

Home Zones are residential streets designed to meet the needs of pedestrians, motorists and cyclists.

Traffic management, gateways, play equipment and shared surface areas for cars and bikes are some of the ideas being put forward.

Wiltshire County Council and consultants TRL are hosting the fun day to ask residents what they would like to see implemented.

The county council appointed TRL after a successful bid for money out of the Department of Transports Home Zone Challenge Fund.

Warminster mayor Andrew Davis will open the event.

Sections of Westleigh and Princecroft Lane will be closed for the event, which runs from 10am to 6pm.

Resident Barbara Dale said: "I feel we have been very lucky to have our street chosen to be transformed into a Home Zone which will make it a safe and better place."
