A NOTORIOUS crossroads will claim a life if traffic improvements are not carried out, a county councillor has warned.
The latest plea for changes at Bradford Leigh crossroads comes after a two-vehicle smash last Wednesday.
No-one was injured, but residents believe it is only a matter of time before someone is killed.
The speed limit on the crossroads was reduced to 40mph last year and flashing warning lights were installed to slow-down speeding motorists.
But Cllr Terry Chivers said the measures seem to be ineffective in persuading motorists to kill their speed.
He said drivers using the crossroads are being forced to take a potentially fatal risk: "Another accident confirms the fears of residents, this crossroads is not safe," he said.
"The high accident rate is purely down to speed. I am going to write to the highways director asking if they can look at the crossroads again. Some sort of traffic calming is needed even if this means changing the colour of the road.
"We have to explore all options before someone is killed. People are telling me it is as dangerous today as it ever was."
