I WRITE with reference to your Opinion, on page 40 last week, titled Close the loophole.
I quote: "Parents are bound to be worried by the latest figures that show how many paedophiles are living in Wiltshire".
I would be extremely concerned, in light of this, to see a named photograph of my child on pages 24/25 of the same publication.
This makes our children more accessible to these monsters by revealing their first names.
Perhaps a more responsible option on your part would be to withhold names when showing photographs of children.

We do take this issue very seriously, and have amended our policy accordingly this year: we now only publish a list of children in class photographs, and no longer name them from left to right. We always take into account the views of individual schools, and if they wished us to withhold names, we would happily do so. Editor.
