POLICE officers piecing together the final hours of fitness fanatic Michelle Shergold have released details of new eyewitness sightings.

Detectives say the popular 34-year-old was spotted by passers-by driving her grey Peugeot 106 along Paxcroft Way, Trowbridge, between 8.10pm and 8.20pm on September 5.

Officers believe Miss Shergold may have been driving back towards her home, in the same street, at the time of this eyewitness sighting.

Until now Miss Shergold's movements between 8pm when she left Castle Place gym and 10pm when a housemate heard her arrive home were a mystery. Despite the latest information, vital questions still surround the two-hour gap, which may prove pivotal to the investigation.

Colleagues from Trowbridge firm Nutricia found Miss Shergold's lifeless body on the floor of her home at 10am the next day.

Post-mortem examinations carried out at Princess Margaret Hospital proved inconclusive but pathologists estimate the time of death is likely to be after 10pm on September 5.

Detectives are waiting for results of blood tests and toxicology reports, which will show if any alcohol, drugs or chemicals were present in her system at the time of death.

Detective Constable Paul Clifford, of Trowbridge CID, said it was important to keep an open mind and he is not ruling out suspicious circumstances but the strain of uncertainty is beginning to take its toll on Miss Shergold's close-knit family.

Her mother Pauline Roberts last week made an emotional appeal for eyewitnesses to come forward.

This week police say they still need help in tracking down anyone who saw Miss Shergold during the two-hour period. Police believe she ate a meal in the time period but are unclear where or at what time.

DC Clifford said: "We would like people to concentrate on the latest sighting and think back. People should focus on the Paxcroft Way area of Trowbridge.

"We are waiting for the results of tests but they will take some weeks.

"I am in contact with members of her family who are still very upset."

Miss Shergold, a well-known face at Trowbridge firm Nutricia and Castle Place Leisure Centre, where she took two fitness classes on the night of her death, moved into the shared house with two others in January.
