CHANGING rooms at Swindon's oldest swimming baths have re-opened following a £25,000 re-vamp.
Work at the 110-year-old Milton Road Health Hydro includes new showers and toilets as well as re-tiling, improved lighting and a fresh lick of paint.
The 110-year-old swimming pool was closed for most of August while work was carried out.
And although it re-opened at the beginning of September, it was given its official opening yesterday by deputy council leader David Cox.
Health Hydro manager, Dave Smith, said: "Three female members of staff picked the new lilac colour scheme in the ladies changing rooms and it has gone down extremely well with customers.
"New lighting in the gents' rooms has also made a huge difference."
The pool first opened for business in 1892 to help improve the health of people living in the railway village.
It is now used mainly by swimming clubs and schools for most of the day, but it does also offer public sessions, between noon and 1.15pm and 3.15-7.15pm each day. A swim costs £2.80 for an adult and £1.60 for a child. For more details contact the Health Hydro on Swindon 465630.
