TROWBRIDGE started their league campaign with an impressive derby victory.

From the start Trowbridge played the game at a frantic pace which starved the home side of any ball in the first 10 minutes of the game, and following a period of fierce rucking and quick recycling Trowbridge flanker Jamie Little burst through the defence to touch down to give Trowbridge an early 5-0 advantage. The remainder of the half was a fairly even affair despite Trowbridge dominating scrums and the loose play.

Midway through the half Corsham closed the gap to 5-3 with a penalty, however Trowbridge regained their five-point advantage with a penalty from scrum half Alex Hill to make the half-time score 8-3 to Trowbridge.

The second half looked ominous for Trowbridge when Corsham made half-time changes in an attempt to strengthen their pack, and in the opening exchanges of the half Corsham pushed deep into the Trowbridge half.

Strong, aggressive defence and Trowbridge's ability to continually turn over the ball in the tackle alleviated the situation and from then on Trowbridge didn't look back. With their scrum under constant pressure, where possible

Corsham opted for line-outs, which proved to be the most effective part of their game, however dominance in loose play allowed Trowbridge to mount attack after attack on the Corsham line. Hooker Matt Dudman powered his way across the line following a drive from the Trowbridge pack close to the Corsham line and number eight, Bod Lawes, turned up on the wing and sprinted through the defence to touch down.

The final try came from scrum half Alex Hill, who followed up his own box kick, caught the ball and sprinted into the corner. A conversion was also added in the second half to take Trowbridge's tally to 25 points. In the dying moments Corsham scored a consolation try. This coming Saturday Trowbridge travel to Castle Cary for a cup game.
