THE new season got off to a flying start at Bradford on Avon with the traditional club open day at the new ground.
Chris Morgan and Luke Nabarro, professional players from the Bristol Shoguns, shared their playing and training techniques with the Bradford players. They worked alongside the Bradford coaches with all the age groups including minis, juniors and the girls' groups.
They demonstrated ball handling skills, safe tackling methods and how to win the ball in mauls and rucks.
The activities on the field were matched by a good turnout of club supporters at the new ground in Ashley Lane, off the Winsley bypass.
The sunny weather was enjoyed by all and showed how well the pitches have been prepared for the coming seasons.
Players will still be using the facilities at St Laurence School during the transfer to the new ground. The club is awaiting the outcome of the bid to Sport England to enable them to proceed with plans for a permanent ground and clubhouse at the Ashley Lane site.
In a friendly against Trowbridge the seniors demonstrated the match-winning form which earned them promotion to Division One of the Dorset and Wiltshire league last season.
Visitors, players and new members are always welcome. The club needs volunteers in many areas of its activities, not just on the playing field.
