THE CRICKLADE Pre-school playgroup will be allowed to move to the old library building in Bath Road.
The playgroup had been promised a five-year lease of the site from North Wiltshire District Council, but the offer was withdrawn in case the area could be developed by Westlea Housing Association for affordable housing.
Councillors have now reversed that decision at a meeting of the executive committee and offered the group a five-year lease with a three-year break clause.
Staff and parents from the playgroup had started a petition because they felt they had been unfairly treated after being promised the site.
Ruth Guy, playgroup supervisor, said the group is looking forward to moving out of the annexe in the town hall where the playgroup has been operating for the last 40 years.
She said: "Hopefully we will be consulted by the district council about what it plans to do with the building."
