ARTISTS raised funds for the new Great Western Hospital by donating part of the proceeds from an exhibition of their works.
Painters from the Swindon Artists Society, Swindon Artists Forum, Nythe Painting Group and the Guild of Wiltshire Artists held an exhibition at the Designer Outlet Village.
They are giving 18 per cent of the proceeds raised from the sale of each painting to the Evolution Appeal which was set up to buy state of the art equipment for the new hospital, which opens in November.
The pictures depict a variety of subjects from landscapes to abstract images and are in a variety of media, including pastels, watercolours, oils and acrylics.
Diana Crafer, secretary of the Swindon Artists Society, is one of the co-ordinators of the exhibition and said the final cash total is still to be worked out.
She is exhibiting a number of works in pastels portraying sea-scapes, sunsets and lakes amongst others.
She said: "The public appeared to enjoy the exhibition and lots of people asked if we can come back nearer Christmas when they have more money."
People interested in seeing the exhibition can still catch it on its last day tomorrow (Sunday).
It is located near the food court in the shopping centre.
