Once again the people of Swindon have pulled out all the stops to raise money for a worthy good cause.
We are very pleased to have been at the forefront of a campaign to set up a permanent memorial to those hundreds of people who have died of mesothelioma the Swindon disease which has affected so many people who worked on the railways.
Through your generosity we have collected more than £11,000 in just six months and this will pay for a memorial garden in Queen's Park.
It is right and proper that such a memorial be erected so that future generations of Swindon will know how primitive working conditions had to be endured by thousands of their ancestors.
It is also quite remarkable how the people of this area have rallied round to raise money for young cancer sufferer Charlie Jarvis.
Her fund is now around the £100,000 mark, which is entirely down to you and your generosity.
