Little Charlie Jarvis was the special guest at a concert hosted by Swindon beauty Melinda Messenger.

The four-year-old, who suffers from a rare childhood cancer, danced her way through the night at the fundraising event at Swindon's Brunel Rooms.

And as the entertainment got underway, Charlie was joined by a crowd of revellers eager to turn Sunday night into party night.

The Rollin' Clones, headed by Mark Smallman as Mick Jogger, belted out classics such as Satisfaction, Brown Sugar and Ruby Tuesday.

And 16-year-old Swindon singer, Mimi, wowed the crowd with her rendition of Liberty X's Just a Little Bit, and her self-penned Finding It Hard To Let You Go.

Melinda, 31, said she became involved in the event after reading about Charlie's condition in a leaflet.

She said: "As soon as I saw it I phoned Charlie's aunty, Mandy, to see if there was anything I could do.

"I was happy to come along tonight to sell raffle tickets or serve drinks whatever people want.

"The evening is about raising money for Charlie and seeing the guys sing and basically having fun. All the acts are fantastic."

Charlie and Melinda chatted about her favourite toys and TV programmes with the celebrity admitting she had a soft spot for the Tweenies.

"Children's TV is what I watch most at the moment as my sons are six months and two-and-a-half," Melinda said.

"I don't want to work too much while they are little but I am involved with a government scheme called Aim Higher which tries to get more people into higher education."

She said she was still hoping to study for a degree in psychology at Reading University but hadn't yet applied for the course.

Charlie's mum, Samantha, said the family was overwhelmed with everyone's support over the last few months.

She said: "People's kindness has been staggering. It has really hit me deep in my stomach. The Rollin' Clones phoned up asking if they could help a few months ago and I didn't think it would get off the ground.

"But they are brilliant and Melinda is so down to earth. She is the same age as me and has two children so I think she can understand a bit of what I feel.

"Charlie loves music and dancing and it was great because the first song of the evening was John Farnham's The Voice, which is her favourite."

Charlie, who was diagnosed a year ago with neuroblastoma, a rare form of juvenile cancer, is due for her next scan on October 1.
