Chippenham's South West Two East aspirations were brought crashing back down to earth as they were dumped 34-13 at Swanage & Wareham.
The visitors were forced into three changes in their backline from last week's resounding win over Amersham & Chiltern but it was their failure to get hold of the Swans forwards which led to their undoing.
An early Phil Graves penalty and Gary Graves try had Chippenham in trouble before the Wiltshire side hit back with a Trevor Lloyd penalty.
Chippenham were back in it, but Swanage broke through on the blindside for Maurice Elford to run in unopposed for a converted try to go in 15-3 up.
Despite some harsh words for coach Matt Sheppard at the break, but it made little difference as sustained pressure from the home side led to their third try of the match and Gary Graves second as the forwards drove over from close range for a converted score.
It was left to Darren McMillan to try and bring Chippenham back into it.
He picked up a loose ball deep inside his own half and after seeing off his opposite number, left the cover defence trailing in his wake and ran 80 metres for a great solo try.
But the lack of a recognised kicker meant that a relatively easy conversion went begging.
Encouraged by McMillan's efforts, scrum-half Tim Dunford reduced the deficit even more when he drove over from a quickly-taken tap penalty.
But Swanage upped the pressure and scored a fourth try through James Warren and prop Paddy Peters added another to leave Chippenham licking their wounds.
