Cirencester Town slipped into the bottom five in the Western Division after a crushing 5-1 defeat at leaders Bromsgrove.
The loss ranks up there with the FA Cup beating Ciren suffered at Highworth, Bromsgrove going ahead as early as the sixth minute when Neil Cartwright scored at the back post.
Hughes duly tinkered with the formation, but a lethargic Gareth Hopkins effort apart, Ciren never threatened.
Tom Ratcliffe also had to come off after 10 minutes, replaced by Dave Gee.
Richard Burgess rounded Ellis Glassup to double the lead on 34 minutes, before ramming home his second and Bromsgrove's third just before the break.
It was 4-0 on 51 minutes as Kevin Banner smashed in a 35-yard shot.
James Hughes gave Ciren a brief reason to smile from 12 yards, and Ashley Read, an Academy product, caused some problems, but the visitors' misery was completed 10 minutes from time when Mark Benbow headed Bromsgrove's fifth.
