For the second week running, Chippenham Under 18s reached the half-century barrier with a 50-0 win over Wimborne in the Dorset & Wilts Merit Table.

Despite fielding a much-changed side, early scores from no 8 Shane Johnstone and winger Matt Page soon settled any nerves.

Both tries were converted by fly-half Gareth Wiltshire and further tries followed from Richard Coward and BJ Chapman. A Wiltshire conversion made the half-time score 26-0.

The second half saw a more spirited effort from Wimborne and it was not until the last quarter that Chippenham added to their score.

Chapman followed up with a brace of tries in the last 20 minutes and captain Dave Ward was rewarded with a try of his own that Wiltshire converted.

Page's second score and a touchline conversion from Wiltshire brought up the 50 mark.

Chippenham Under 15s travelled to their Maidenhead counterparts but were well beaten 36-5.

The visitors survived some early pressure from their powerful hosts, who eventually broke the deadlock with a unconverted try in the corner.

Chippenham responded with a wellworked try of their own when Ashley Hurcombe pounced on a loose ball after a long chase from a searching kick ahead.

But a moment of madness from Chippenham skipper John Boddington turned the game.

Boddington was ordered from the field after a reckless high tackle and Maidenhead began to use the extra man to their advantage.

Two further tries followed for the hosts in the first half and after the break Chippenham yielded three further scores.
