TOWN skipper Andy Gurney insists his troops are 100 per cent behind Andy King despite the continuing speculation surrounding Steve Coppell's role.
The defender is preparing to sit down with the Town boss to discuss a new deal and he said that was not the action of a discontented player.
He said: "I think you can ask any player at this club and they will tell you that we are all 100 per cent behind the manager.
"He treats us with respect and we offer him the same.
"A lot of the lads were brought to the club by Andy King and we owe it to him to perform and try and make sure he stays as manager of this football club.
"Steve Coppell has come in and provided a fresh input on the training ground. You respect that because he has played and managed at the top level.
"But I don't think anyone should underestimate the role the gaffer has played at this club."
However, the players seem quite happy to experience both a cauldron of emotion and a tranquility zone as they get used to training with Messrs King and Coppell.
The contrasting styles of the pair are proving a hit blend with Andy Gurney and his troops.
Far from receiving mixed messages, there is a sense that the pair complement each other.
By his own admission King is an emotional, vocal character while Coppell is a more restrained, calming figure.
Human nature dictates that some players respond better to King's style while others are enjoying the Coppell approach.
Defender Matt Heywood said: "Steve hasn't been here very long but he is a calming figure.
"The gaffer is a bit more emotional but I think there is a good balance between the two of them."
Fellow central defender Adam Willis is also happy to take in the advice of both King and Coppell.
He said: "The gaffer picks the team at the end of the day. He is the one in charge.
"But Steve Coppell has given us some new ideas and he also has your respect as he's played and managed at the highest level."
The tribunal to settle Sol Davis' fee following his move to Luton has been set for Wednesday, October 9.
Ticket prices for Town's LDV Vans Trophy first round clash with Southend United on October 23 will be as follows (subject to agreement from the Roots Hall club): £5 (adults) and £2 (concessions).
