LAWN residents put their hands in their pockets to help the African Famine Appeal.
Some 60 people attended Lawn Community Church's fundraising drive, which raised £565 for the cause.
As well as a short service, which included hymns with an African beat sung in Shona one of the languages of Zimbabwe there was sales of coffee, bring and buy produce, children's games and car washing courtesy of youth group TNT Totally Nutty Teenagers.
There was also a Traidcraft stall selling goods at a fair price, which enables poor communities to work their way out of poverty.
Deacon Maureen Iles, of Lawn Community Church, said: "Our church has a connection to Africa as one of our members, Keith Saunders, has a twin brother in Zimbabwe and he was over here visiting a few weeks ago. It was an enjoyable event helping us to forge a bond with the community."
