Chippenham Round Table member PC Andrew Holyoake will be pounding the streets of New York in a bid to to raise money for the children's charity Whizz Kidz.
PC Holyoake, who used to be based in Chippenham but is now a training officer in Gloucestershire, is in training for the New York marathon on November 3.
He was introduced to Whizz Kidz through the Round Table and wanted to help raise money himself.
"I watched Tablers raise over £400,000 for Whizz Kidz in a little over two years and I thought it was time I raised some money for them myself," he said.
He will also complete an international fun run from the United Nations building to Central Park, the day before the marathon.
"It is so satisfying to make real differences to young people's quality of life," he said.
