PHYSIO John Lock has raised more than £200 towards medical equipment for Chippenham Town after completing the BUPA-sponsored Bristol Half Marathon on Sunday.
Lock and girlfriend Helen Budd completed the gruelling 13.1 mile course around Bristol's city centre in two hours and five minutes as part of a 30-strong team entered by the National Sports Medical Institute of the UK.
The 27-year-old, who works as a buyer for Honda, raised a total of £450 with the help of Chippenham supporters Danielle and Jessica Swanborough, with half of the proceeds going to the club and the other half to the NSMI.
He was pleased with his effort, but will not be rushing out to complete another half marathon in the near future.
Said Lock: "I felt fine up until the eight mile point, but was just running on my energy after that. My legs had gone, but I kept plugging away.
"I'll probably do another one in the future, but will make sure I do a bit more than four weeks training next time.
"I'm happy with the money we raised. I have to thank Danielle and Jessica Swanborough, because they had one week to go round with the forms and deserve a lot of credit.''
