Malmesbury Library invites readers of all ages to enjoy the magic of words this week as it joins the rest of county in a festival of literature.
A children's writing workshop for seven to 11 year-olds will be held on Saturday, September 28 from 10am to noon.
Local poet and storyteller Sue Chad will be running the workshop entitled White Horse, Black Dog.
Children will be asked to produce their own piece of prose or poetry using the festival theme of Mystical Wiltshire as their inspiration.
Parents can book children's places at the free workshop by contacting librarian Carolyn Kennedy at the library on (01666) 823611.
On Tuesday, October 1, between 7.30pm and 9pm The Dandy Lion Poets, a group of travelling bards and writers named after a pub in Bradford on Avon will bring their emotive performance to the library.
The group comprises writer Paul O' Mahony, poet Ursula Brooke, Dawn Gorman and Andrew Stacey, who combine comedy and tragedy in their insights of everyday life.
Tickets for the event cost £1.50 and are available from the library.
Song and dance group Tinker's Bag will perform A Wiltshire Wedding next Thursday, October 3, between 8pm and 10pm. The story is based on an imaginary wedding between two young lovers and is set in a small market town in Wiltshire.
The eight-piece group perform mainly in Wiltshire but have played in folk festivals and other events around the country.
Tickets are £3.50 and are available from the library.
