Bromham has set up a new youth club for 11 15 year-olds in response to popular demand.
After complaining that there was nothing for older children to do in the village a group of teenagers got together with parents and carers to form Bromham Youth, the Next generation.
At their first meeting on September 18 the members and organisers decided on the club rules, had a competition to design a logo and made suggestions for forthcoming events.
Organiser Ann Paget said; "We have snooker and pool and an art table, but we are very much looking to what the children want.
"We had a good turnout on our first night, with about 40 children.
"It's so long since they have had something like that in the village, that I think the children were just glad to get out and do something."
The group organised a range of fundraising events including a family barbecue and a stall at the Bromham carnival. The Parish Council also made a donation.
The club meets on Wednesdays from 7.30 to 10pm, apart from the second Wednesday in every month. It costs £1.50 per week with a yearly membership fee of £1.
The group has set up a website, www.byc.5u.com, which will be updated regularly with details of activities.
