SALISBURY MP Robert Key has backed a safety report examining the impact of the proposed link road to be built through residential areas of Boscombe Down.

The report, from Amesbury resident and chartered engineer Richard Maguire, highlights the three main areas of concern regarding the completion of the A345 to A303 route.

Mr Maguire points out that increased traffic flow, including HGVs, increased casualties and costs to the community, as well as ineffective safety features between new and existing sections of the proposed link, as important safety concerns.

At a meeting last Friday, (20th), Mr Key stated that the report was "excellent" and contributed a number of essential facts to the debate.

He said: "I am well aware of the proposal for the road and the anger of the residents.

"I am going to write to the chief executive of Salisbury district council to find out the chapter and verse on where the planning process is and on the issue of a public enquiry.

"When I have that response, I shall publish it, so that everyone may know the position."
