WORSHIPPERS at St James' Church in Southbroom, Devizes, are being urged to donate cash and tins of food to help local people as well as those in South Africa.
The church is holding its harvest festival on Sunday, September 29, at 10.30am. The vicar, the Rev Chris Tebbutt, said: "The theme this year will be meeting needs here and abroad.
"Besides the usual collection of food and tins, which are distributed to those in need in the parish, there will be a cash collection for the Tear Fund to help with the relief efforts for those experiencing severe famine in Southern Africa.
"Any tins left over will be sent to the Food Bank in Salisbury which collect at harvest to feed people in need in Wiltshire."
Maria Brennan, who is from Malawi and is a member of Sheep Street Baptist Church, will talk about her work with the Tear Fund.
After the harvest festival service there will be a bring and share harvest lunch in the parish centre.
