Mike Tupman from Marlborough has been named Wiltshire's special constable of the year. He will receive his citation from Chief Constable Elizabeth Neville at a ceremony in Salisbury.

Mr Tupman, who is married with two daughters, has been a special constable for 18 years. The part-time CCTV operator will also meet the Princess Royal when she visits Wootton Bassett.

Emily Polack, 22, will give a talk to the Marlborough Brandt Group today on her recent experiences in Cambodia. She visited the South-East Asian country to help community action to protect the environment, particularly in resisting logging and the over-exploitation of natural resources. The talk takes place at the Quaker Meeting House in The Parade, starting at 7.30pm.

The annual civic service will take place on Sunday, September 29, at the Church of St Thomas More in George Lane at 11am. The service will be conducted by the Rev Father Philip Thomas.
