COUNCILLORS last night agreed to change the inscription on Swindon's main war memorial.
The words "all wars and conflicts since 1945" will be added to the cenotaph in Regent Circus.
The decision follows a campaign by the families of soldiers killed in conflicts since 1945.
The town cenotaph currently only carries an inscription dedicated to the fallen of the First and Second World Wars.
Councillors also voted to pursue the idea of building a £70,000 memorial wall in Queen's Park dedicated to all soldiers from Swindon killed from 1914 onwards.
However, no money has yet to be allocated for the second proposal.
