MULTIPLE sclerosis sufferers from all over the south took to the skies at Old Sarum at the weekend, courtesy of the British Disabled Flying Club.
The club, which has members throughout the country, organised the flying day and invited branches of the MS Society to nominate members for a 30-minute flight.
Some 47 people took up the offer, many of them first-time flyers.
Among them was Anne Wise, of Ludgershall, a novice flyer, who said that members of her local branch had held a ballot for the chance to take part in the annual flying day.
"People have been able to look down on Stonehenge and Wilton House and follow the course of the river.
"It is a wonderful opportunity."
Roger Bryant, of Fordingbridge, took an aerial tour of his home town.
"I was looking out for my house but I didn't manage to see it," he said. "I have always wanted to see what it would be like to fly in a small plane.
"It wasn't at all as I expected but I would definitely like to do it again."
