Bath are confident that "significant new evidence" will help clear skipper Danny Grewcock to play in Saturday's Premiership derby against high-flying Gloucester.
Grewcock appears at an RFU appeal hearing in London tonight in an attempt to overturn a 35-day ban imposed for kicking Saracens' scrum-half Kyran Bracken this month.
Bracken will speak up for his former flatmate at the hearing and Bath believe that, plus their new evidence, will be enough to see the England lock forward in the clear.
The club have refused to reveal what their new evidence is but first team coach Brian Smith said: "The new information will be positive in terms of our case that Danny is innocent of the charges.
"Whether it will be enough to see the whole thing quashed we will have to wait and see, but we have prepared ourselves for the worst.
"The video evidence and significant new evidence that we have, plus Kyran Bracken appearing, makes us confident but obviously the RFU wants to send a message out on these things."
If successful, Grewcock will be free to play against the Cherry and Whites on Saturday which would be a major boost to a Bath side that may be without the injured pair of Mike Catt and Gareth Cooper.
