THOUSANDS of people lined the streets of Frome for the annual carnival on Saturday. Colourful floats and extravagantly-dressed walkers passed through the town and majorettes twirled their batons behind trailers laden with trophies.
Brass bands, clowns and Frome Fire Brigade were among other entrants in the procession.
Trowbridge bed company Airsprung's tableau entry took first prize and won the Jennings cup.
Gordon Blanchard, chairman of the carnival club, said: "We always look forward to this carnival as there is always a good reaction from the crowd."
Frome Carnival's treasurer Bill Plank said: "We collected £5,882 on the night which was £477 more than last year.
"The weather was in our favour and the quality of the floats seems to get better and better each year.
"As well as raising money for charity, we have been working hard since 1998 to raise the money to erect our storage building.
"It is now up, but we need £10,000 to complete this very necessary building."
