UNITED won through to the third qualifying round with a comfortable victory, although their domination was not reflected by the scoreline.
Home goalkeeper Gareth Evans, making his first team debut in place of the unavailable Mark Batters, did not have to make a save and he was also dominant in his box by claiming crosses and making many clearances.
United took the lead on 16 minutes when another great cross from Burton eluded the defence and Steve Seals finished powerfully at the far post.
United continued to create chances in the second half and on 58 minutes Seals played Steve Perkins in but his shot was deflected wide.
Elmore made several changes as they pushed forward in numbers, but the defence held on. Elmore were restricted to long shots as Evans continued his fine performance. As did Seals, with some terrific tackles in midfield.
Their frustration boiled over with 10 minutes remaining when a shocking challenge by Nick Howe led to a brawl involving most of the players, including Steve Rowland who punched United's Dan Dominy.
Once things died down both Howe and Rowland were sent off for violent conduct.
Playing against nine men United quickly secured victory when Colbourne broke free on goal and, ignoring options either side of him, struck a 20-yard shot past Lewis.
Elmore's goal came deep into injury time when they caught United trying to play out time and Mark Thomas fired home from long range.
