A GROUP helping with the regeneration of a west Wiltshire town now has its own identity.
Action for Warminster was originally working in connection with Warminster Civic Trust but because of its success the group now has its own budget.
A spokesman said: "It is important to have its own identity and a mandate from the people of Warminster, so that effective applications can be made for the various forms of funding that are available to assist in development in the town and surrounding area."
Initially, Action for Warminster will receive £25,000 worth of funding.
The spokesman said: "This would be used to develop local capacity and prepare a community strategic plan.
"It will be important to
involve surrounding parishes, provide training and identify community agents to network with other towns involved in the scheme."
Another meeting will be held on October 15, when a management committee will be elected.
