I WRITE in response to your story, Town is safe despite rising crime (page 2, Wiltshire Times, September 20).
Is there a dichotomy somewhere in the statement that despite rising crime Trowbridge is still safe!
I'm sure the people who have been the ones to have suffered first hand on the percentage ladder above the norm that they are totally happy with this statement!
Perhaps Inspector Tapper could enlighten the local community as to the number of crimes solved in relation to those committed.
Being below the national average is no reason for accepting such a rise in local crime levels.
Are the police just interested in numbers and statistics or do we mere mortals come into this equation somewhere?
Dr J G Hawley,
Millington Drive,
Trowbridge.
