A 57-year-old man has been remanded in custody after admitting burglary and attempted burglary when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court.
John Williams, of Timbrell Street, Trowbridge, admitted the offences relating to the same house in the town. He admitted breaking into a house in Bellefield Crescent on May 2 and stealing jewellery, watches, cash, compact discs, a leather wallet and other items.
Williams also pleaded guilty to the attempted burglary of the same premises on May 15.
The case was adjourned for pre-sentence reports to be prepared and Williams was warned to expect a custodial sentence.
Recorder Christopher Clark QC said: "You have pleaded guilty to these two offences of burglary.
"Your barrister has asked for a full report be prepared about you before sentence. That seems to be a very reasonable request.
"The court needs to know about you and how you come to be committing these offences.
"I will adjourn the case. You do realise the likely outcome on that day will be custody."
