The brother of Trowbridge councillor William Spiers died from natural causes at his home in Amsterdam on Friday, aged 50.
Keith Spiers was born in Hilbury Nursing Home, Trowbridge now the Hilbury Court Hotel on March 10, 1952.
He was the youngest son of Bill and Vera Spiers and was predeceased in recent years by his brothers Allan and Austin.
Keith Spiers will be remembered, above all, for his adventurous spirit.
After attending both Lord Weymouth School and Kingdown School, in Warminster, Keith moved first to Nottingham then to Brighton with his wife Ros and his daughter Miranda.
He started his own Furniture Removal Company, Abbey Removals but gradually his interests moved to Europe and Holland, where he settled with his Australian partner, Anthea, and new daughter, Amy.
In recent years he spent a lot of time in Suriname, South Africa, where he was preparing to move.
He had recently been panning for gold in a South American Creek, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Mr Spiers's partner, Dor, was with him when he died.
His daughters Amy and Miranda, his brothers Tony Battle and William Spiers and his sister Jean Still survive him.
