A DELIVERY lorry helped stop a stolen van which was being followed by police on Wednesday.
In the early hours of the morning, officers followed a white Escort van along Bradford Road.
Roadworks prevented the driver from speeding off but it failed to stop.
The chase ended when the van became lodged between bollards and an articulated lorry, which had just passed through traffic lights in Stallard Street.
The van was damaged but nobody was injured.
Two 17-year-old men were arrested and were taken to Melksham police station.
A nearby resident who was woken by the incident said: "The white mini-van was obviously being chased by at least three police cars.
"A lorry also became involved. The mini-van ended up in the hedge with the lorry blocking it in.
"The police dragged out two of them and they were resisting.
By the way it ended it looked like a pretty fast chase."
