An extremely rare two-line quotation written by Paul McCartney from the lyrics of Penny Lane is expected to fetch up to £1,500 pounds at an auction in Swindon.
It features the first two lines of the song, together with a signed dedication and inscription in McCartney's hand. It says: "All the best! To Dad (Your Dad) XXX."
The sale takes place at Dominic Winter Book Auctions in Maxwell Street, Swindon, on Thursday.
Documents expert, Richard Westwood-Brookes, said: "Original quotations from the lyrics of major Beatles songs are extremely rare on the market.
"This particular example was written for a personal friend who had known the Beatles from their earliest days."
Penny Lane was issued as a double A side in 1967 with Strawberry Fields Forever on the reverse.
The first lines quoted by McCartney are: "Penny Lane there is a barber showing photographs, of every head he's had the pleasure to know."
