A BID by Allied Dunbar to illuminate tennis courts near Foxhill looks set to be turned down by Swindon Council.
The finance company, which has its training and development centre at King Edwards Place, is applying to put up four ten-metre high floodlight columns with dual lights on each corner of its court area.
But when planners meet on Tuesday they will be recommended to refuse the plan.
Council advisers say that floodlighting within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty would result in excessive bright light.
