The Hyundai Matrix 1.5 TD GSi is the most tax-efficient mini people-carrier available on the UK market, according to a magazine survey.
Not only does the diesel Matrix take top honours, the petrol 1.6 GSi model takes third place giving Hyundai two of the top three places.
The survey was carried out by Fleet News, which analysed 35 compact MPVs between 1.5 and 2.2 litres. It found the three-year tax total for the Matrix 1.5 TD GSi was £1,434, with the Matrix 1.6 GSi emerging at £1,570.
Some cars at the bottom end of the survey had three-year tax totals in excess of £2,600.
The Fleet News survey said: "If we take 1.5 litres as the entry-level engine capacity, it is the Hyundai Matrix 1.5 TD that proves the most tax efficient over three years.
"It is neat, well equipped and stylish."
