PARENTS who unknowingly put their children at risk by demonstrating poor road safety will be learning better road sense in Walk To School Week.
Between Monday and October 4, hundreds of parents and children will be learning how to cross roads more safely with the help of Swindon Council's road safety advisers.
The initiative follows research by the Department of Transport, which shows that 74 per cent of parents do not use crossings if they are in a hurry, while 63 per cent don't wait the extra few seconds for the green light before crossing.
Swindon Council's road safety manager Margaret Tester said: "During the week parents and their children will learn about many safety issues such as the dangers of school gate parking."
