Westbury went down in their first appearance in the NPI Cup. Despite losing, Westbury gained many positives from the match.
A poor start left Westbury 17 points down within the first 10 minutes.
This sparked the team into life and after fine lead-up play by Darren Saving, the forwards were able to apply enough pressure to allow Matt Doughty to crash over the line.
Westbury then conceded two more tries before half-time.
After 10 minutes of the second half, Westbury were down to 14 men.
This loss of personnel seemed to spur the Westbury pack, who laid the foundations for two more tries for the powerhouse lock, Doughty.
While Witney managed a couple more scores, Westbury can take great heart from this performance.
Special mention must go to the Westbury pack who, despite having been reduced to seven men, managed to drive Witney back off their own ball and score a pushover try.
