ANDY KING feels the battle between Sol Davis and Danny Invincible could be the deciding factor in today's clash with Luton Town.

The Town boss insists there is no plan to exploit Davis' 'explosive' nature but admits the defender's style is prone to incurring the wrath of referees which could work to his side's advantage.

He said: "We know what Sol is capable of and I wasn't pleased to see him go. He has quality, as well as being explosive.

"Danny Invincible will probably find himself having to take on Sol.

"They know each other well but I have told Danny that he can expect protection from a referee and his linesmen.

"Sol is aggressive and fearless in the challenge but the game now doesn't suit defenders like Sol Davis.

"I think it will be an interesting confrontation in one of the areas where the game could be won or lost."

Today's game has particular significance for King. He was born in Luton and started his professional career at Kenilworth Road.

After hanging up his boots he returned to the club as commercial manager.

He said: "Money was tight during my time at the club but things are now on the up. They have Joe Kinnear in charge and a playing budget which is in the top six in Division Two.

As well as holding fond memories for King, Kenilworth Road is also 'home' to one of his great friends Mick Hartford.

He said: "I won't be arguing with their dug-out. I know it would be unwise with Mick sitting there."

Injuries meant the entire first team squad boarded the coach for Bedfordshire this morning.

The three major concerns Matt Hewlett, Steve Robinson and Stefani Miglioranzi remain.

Messrs Hewlett and Robinson were deemed 'touch and go' with King admitting that neither would be fully fit if thrust into the fray.

Despite focussing fully on today's game, King has broken his silence over the latest transfer embargo imposed on the club.

He said: "It is ridiculous and I've never heard of anything like it during my time in football.

"It is caused by a player from within. It's absolutely ludicrous.

"But it is a major problem. The quicker this scenario is sorted out, the better for this football club."

Town's youth team have been drawn at home to either Bath City or Salisbury City in the first round of the FA Youth Cup. The two non-League sides meet on Monday.
