A CRUNCH meeting may be held to decide whether Lechlade's police volunteer scheme is to continue.
Its future has been in doubt since Gloucestershire Constabulary put Lechlade Police Station on the market in March. A total of 18 police volunteers operated from the Market Place building.
Volunteers and town councillors were angered when the police declined an offer from the station's new owner to allow the group to continue using it. The police blamed controversy over the sale for the decision.
Now Lechlade district council has called for a meeting with police to see if there is a way of saving the scheme.
