I would just like to echo the opinion of Sean J Murphy in the Evening Advertiser of September 26 No surprise council is in a financial mess.
When is Swindon Borough Council going to realise it should be running like a professional business?
Like any business in trouble, it should be seriously looking at the way it operates, and at ways of reducing its operations costs and overheads.
At the very least, it should be offering different options/ways forward.
It would not necessarily be putting up the price of its goods, as it knows this is not necessarily the way forward.
There is only a certain value a market can stand.
The people in Swindon do not have the luxury of not buying the product, as this is a service we have to pay for, regardless of whether we get value for money.
