IT seems to me things go from bad to worse in Swindon.

Your paper on September 24 concerned the overspending by Social Services of nearly £800,000 it's not entirely their fault, there are so many people to cater for.

Needless to say it will be the elderly, disabled and vulnerable people in our community who will suffer.

This town is growing far too fast, with thousands more people earmarked to come here stretching resources even more.

It can't cope now, so what happens in the future?

The pressure on the new hospital, which has fewer beds than PMH, will be enormous.

Meanwhile, care homes for the elderly are getting fewer and fewer, putting even more pressure on hospitals.

I have lived in Swindon all my life.

It has never been in such a desperate state.
