A much depleted Bassett Colts retained their unbeaten run with a powerpacked 17-8 win at Swanage despite a harsh red card shown to Adam Rumbles.

Rumbles was ordered off for a technical infringement after just five minutes, after helping to send Darren Lewis over for the opening try.

But captain Matt Hutchings rallied his seven-man pack to produce an outstanding performance, totally dominating at scrum and line out.

Bassett opened the second half with some good interplay in midfield between Nick Parker and Stuart McInnes.

The latter put in a fine performance after a year on the sidelines through injury.

With McInnes making good ground wide right, Bassett forwards arrived in strength in the shape of Gary Williamson and Simon French and inspirational captain Hutchings drove over.

Full-back Fulling converted and added a further three points.

With only minutes to the whistle, Swanage claimed their only try of the match, to add to their earlier penalty.
