TWO lanes of the M4 were brought to a standstill by the Marie Curie Cancer Care Ladies' Driving Challenge.
It was the final stage in the three and a half day journey of a 70-tonne TR70 Terex truck from Netherwell in Scotland to RAF Colerne near Chippenham.
It was on loan for the challenge from Tarmac Ltd in Swindon.
At the controls throughout the journey were relays of drivers.
Once at Colerne, the truck was handed over to women fundraisers for the cancer charity, who had been sponsored to do stints behind the wheel.
The truck, which can carry a load weighing as much as itself, was escorted by police vehicles throughout the trip from Scotland.
It will now be sent to its ultimate home in Baltimore, Maryland.
Marie Curie Fundraiser Sophie Kinsman said of the truck: "It's absolutely gigantic.
"The wheels alone are bigger than me!"
