An Aldbourne man is celebrating six months of success after setting up a specialist business to help people understand Apple Macintosh computers and products.
"For those who know these machines, they are definitely the designer's friend," says 45-year-old Duncan Bushell, a chartered engineer who set up Side Effect Systems in a converted stable block in the village of Aldbourne, near Marlborough.
"The aim of SESL is to supply IT solutions and technical support to small businesses using Apple Macs," says Duncan.
"My background means we specialise in bespoke software where off-the-shelf products are not quite right and we can also help with Mac/PC integration.
"I like to feel that we have the edge in the IT marketplace by being able to provide the high standards expected of large scale industrial software practice to small businesses.
"We believe that computers are tools and should truly help people do their job.
"Apple has gone a long way towards this goal with its latest hardware and with Mac OS X, and we can help businesses achieve the goal with bespoke software that lets a business work the way it wants, not the way the software dictates."
