IT appears that the council has again decided to spend our money negligently. On Sunday we received a reminder for our Electoral Register form, despite the fact that the return is not due until after October 15.
In fact, it is illegal to send it back earlier as we could be potentially giving false information. Whoever was responsible for the decision should have the cost deducted from their salary, not mine and your council tax. I am tempted to send the reminder back with a large note across it stating "I do not know the number of people who will be in my household on October 15", but this will only cause more work and in the end increase council tax again.
When I left school in the late 60s the saying was that if you cannot get a job anywhere else, join the civil service. It seems that all those who work for Swindon Council applied on that basis!
