A WOMAN was killed in an accident near Colerne at the height of the evening rush hour on Tuesday October 1.
The accident happened at 5.40pm at Hunters Hall on the Fosseway. The road was closed until 10pm and police officers were at the scene the following day trying to trace witnesses.
The 51-year-old woman, from Bath, was in a head on collision in her Peugeot 205 with a silver Vauxhall Vectra. She died at the scene.
The Vectra, heading towards Colerne, was being driven by a 33-year-old man from Chippenham. He injured his arm in the crash.
Traffic officer PC David Cooper said police were trying to trace the driver of a red Seat Marbella who may be an essential witness. "At one point the Seat was in front of the Vauxhall and then it turned off. We are not sure if the driver was even aware of the accident but we would like to get in touch to find out what they saw," said PC Cooper.
Police, fire crews and ambulance attended the accident and an investigation is under way. Witnesses should call police on (01380) 735735.
