GILES Harris is desperate to rid himself of the Chippenham Town number 16 shirt after warming the bench for each of the Bluebirds' 12 matches.

The former Weston-super-Mare man has only had brief chances to shine this season, coming off the bench as a late substitute in the home victories over Chelmsford City and Ilkeston Town.

Hehas been a victim of the Bluebirds' early success but is hoping his first start is just around the corner.

He said: "I keep getting told that my chance will come and, if that's the case, then I have no problems whatsoever.

"It is a good team and we have started the season well. The Premier Division is also a league above the one I played in last year, so hopefully my chance will come. If and when I get the opportunity, I've just got to make sure I take it with both hands."

He is the only one of Tommy Saunders' pre-season trialists still at Hardenhuish Park and admitted his lack of first team action is frustrating.

He said: "I thought I might have got a start when we went to a three in midfield away from home. I think I had a pretty good pre-season and did what I could."

But the lack of a reserve team may mean Harris is loaned out to another club in order to rebuild his fitness level. He said: "I do need on work on the match fitness side of things and that is something I'll be speaking to Tom about."
