WORKERS on the vacuum cleaner production line at the Dyson factory in Malmesbury have expressed their anger at their redundancies last week.

Jackie King, 52, of White Lion Park, Malmesbury said: "We are gutted, we put James Dyson on the map and he has thrown us out. We have worked hard and this is how he has repaid us."

First news of the redundancies was released to the workers in February.

As their last act at the factory, workers were told they could build their own custom-made Dyson.

Derek Goodfield, of Pipers Close, Wootton Bassett, said: "Most of us have got a Dyson already. It has been very hard to work for the past few months knowing that we are to be made redundant."

Workers are also unhappy about the redundancy packages.

Caroline Sherman, 34, of Pewsham, Chippenham, said: "I only got £2,770 for four years' service. I'll have to move into my parents' house now because I can't afford to stay at home."

A Dyson spokesman said: "The packages were worked out by management and employees and are above the statutory minimum payout."
